Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)

Grades K-12

APS screens every enrolled student early each fall using a district assessment; students who meet the district threshold (currently or within the past two years) are referred automatically, so most families do not need to submit a referral. Referred students are assessed in the spring (January-April) in mental ability, achievement, creativity and motivation. Mental ability is measured with the Naglieri General Abilities Test.
