Gifted and Talented (GT)

All second graders take a cognitive abilities test in the fall as a universal screener, but parents must still refer their child through the fall referral window for a GT evaluation. In the fall evaluation, students in grades K-11 are tested with the CogAT (nonverbal, verbal and quantitative), plus a teacher rating scale and a home behavior form.

• No cutoff score is published; a District Identification Committee decides. source

Deadlines

• Fall GT referral (2026-09-30): Online referrals were taken from August 11, 2026 and are due by September 30, 2026; the district makes no exceptions. source
• Fall results (2027-02-09): Results appear in the GT app by Tuesday, February 9, 2027. source
• Appeals window closes (fall referrals) (2027-02-25): Appeals for 2026-27 fall referrals close at 11:59 pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2027. source

Appeals / retesting: Parents must appeal within ten days of the notification email; supporting documents are due within five days of the appeal. The District Appeal Committee replies in writing within ten school days of its meeting. source
