Irvine Unified School District: gifted testing
Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)
Grades 3-6IUSD screens all students in grades 3-5 every year with a Multiple Criteria Measure, automatically during the school day. Every third grader takes the Naglieri (NNAT) once. In grade 3 a student must meet criteria in 3 of 4 categories (ability, reading, math, creative writing); in grades 4-5, 2 of 3 achievement categories. Qualifying means scoring in the top 20% of the grade level.
