Grades K-12Olentangy runs whole-grade tests in grades 2, 3 and 6 for superior cognitive ability and all subject areas (and creative thinking in grades 2 and 3). Anyone can refer a child in writing at any time, and the district offers at least two assessment opportunities a year. Scores just below the bar trigger reassessment; identification lasts through grade 12.

- CogAT (Form 7), grades 1, 2 and 4-6: identification at 128 (about the 97th percentile); 126-127 leads to reassessment. source
- CogAT (Form 7), grades K and 3: identification at 127 (about the 96th percentile); 125-126 leads to reassessment. source
- NNAT3, grades K-4: identification at 126 (about the 96th percentile). source
- NNAT3, grades 5-7: identification at 125 (about the 95th percentile). source
Appeals / retesting: Parents write to the superintendent or designee, who meets with the family and issues a written final decision within 30 days. source
