Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG)

Grades K-12

Grades K-3 focus on talent development with no formal identification. Every student in grades 3 and 6 gets an aptitude test opportunity, and an automatic data screen runs each year for grades 3-7 from the second semester. Outside testing is not accepted.

Published criteria

  • Intellectually Gifted (IG) or AI: 98th percentile or higher full-scale aptitude score and 98th percentile or higher subtest composite (AI also needs 98th percentile achievement and a 90% performance indicator). Academically Gifted (AR/AM): three criteria in the same subject, one of them a 90th percentile or higher aptitude score. source

Appeals / retesting: Families who disagree with an eligibility outcome may request a rescreening of the student's data; the student must still meet district criteria. source
