Naglieri practice for kindergarten
In kindergarten, children don't need to read: questions are pictures, and directions are read aloud. What helps most is familiarity with each question type and a calm, short routine.
Question types in kindergarten
- Verbal: Six pictures are shown. Five share an idea, such as things that hold a drink; your child finds the one that doesn’t fit. No reading or words are needed.
- Quantitative: A row of numbers, or boxes of counted shapes, follows a pattern; your child picks what comes next. From 3rd grade there are also number pairs that follow a rule.
- Nonverbal: A 2×2 grid of colored shapes has one empty box. Your child picks the shape that completes it, following changes in color, order and direction.
A simple weekly routine
- Start with the free readiness check to see where to focus.
- Do 2–3 sessions of 10–15 minutes a week.
- Review missed puzzles together, talking through the “why”.
- In the last week before the test, keep it light and sleep well.
