NNAT practice for 4th grade

In 4th grade, children read every question themselves (words, numbers and shapes), usually with a time limit for each part. Practicing with a gentle timer helps children pace themselves.

Question types in 4th grade

  • Pattern Completion: A big pattern has a missing piece. Your child picks the piece that completes it.
  • Reasoning by Analogy: Shapes change across a row in a rule-based way; your child finds the shape that follows the same change.
  • Serial Reasoning: Shapes change step by step across rows and down columns, in grids of two rows of three or three rows of three; your child finds the one that fits the order.
  • Spatial Visualization: Two figures are combined or a figure is folded; your child picks the result.

A simple weekly routine

  1. Start with the free readiness check to see where to focus.
  2. Do 2–3 sessions of 10–15 minutes a week.
  3. Review missed puzzles together, talking through the “why”.
  4. In the last week before the test, keep it light and sleep well.
